We like playing with color, it makes us feel good and look. Transforming the way we look sets our imagination racing, running wild we are ready for experimentation. Get set to bring back the hair color crazy part of your personality.
Sit down with a cup of green tea, think through what you have on mind. Then have a word with your personal stylist. Go through the whole coloring schema together. Share pictures if possible. Pick the technique you want to try.
Are you looking to highlight or are you contemplating the latest trend of ‘tie and dye’or balayage, or a mix of the two? Balayage is essentially a more natural flow of color on your strands, painted on freehand with no specific sections. What you will find interesting is the versatility of this process —go soft, natural or loud. Instead of foil, cellophane is used to set the color in.
Remember, each streak of hair reflects light and color differently. This is what gives depth. How about multiple highlights of brown and natural hues? Choose your look. Then trust the expert, they are your closest allies when it comes to hair.
Pick up the shade card and zero in on the ‘after’ look. The best highlight for the darker skin tone is a beautiful sun-kissed look with natural browns and deep golds. But if you're on the lighter side, go for a mix of cool and warm tones.
But keep the type of hair you have in mind. If you've got super frizzy or curly hair, opt for those chunky highlights. Make every curl reflect coloring its own way.
Most people’s hair is never completely straight, and if you have soft waves or sleek hair, take a shot with an ombré, i.e. color that is shaded or graduated in tone. Why not? After all, that is what an experiment is all about, isn’t it?
The most important thing to do after a coloring session is follow this three step routine: shampoo, condition and follow up with a serum. You can see the difference once you apply just a few drops of serum evenly on your hair. Enhance your new hair texture and color, give it the right kind of sheen.
Once you are home, here is a trick that has never failed. Rinsing out with apple cider vinegar to help the color last longer. Use a mild mix, one-tablespoon apple cider vinegar with about a cup of water in a spray bottle and apply after coloring hair — leave it on for a while, and gently rinse with water.
Throw that inhibition out the window because your coloring is not a permanent dye and there are no harmful chemicals to hurt your scalp either. Your hair grows out.
Coloring also redefines your features. Highlighting the color of your eyes, giving those cheeks the glow of inner joy.
Besides, there is nothing wrong in wanting to wear a great new look. Walk free, let go, make your hair dazzle!
