Gorgeous DIY Hairstyles To Add A Touch Of Glam To Your Holidays

The holidays are one of the best excuses to get all glammed up, not that you really need a reason. But whether you’re attending an important office party, celebrating out on the town with friends, or gathering around the table with family, every event during the holidays calls for a festive hairstyle with a bit of glam. So with your party outfits ready it’s now time to begin the quest for some easy hairstyles to complete your look. Here are some simple DIY styles to help you add a touch of glam to your holidays.
Red Carpet Wet Look
This look has been a huge hit among celebrities this fall and it looks like it will carry over into the winter holiday season as well. It gives off a bit of a carefree fresh shower vibe while still looking sleek and elegant. Investing in a quality wet-look mousse or gel is the key to getting this styling technique right. This look requires a lot of product applied from root to tip to keep the entire shaft looking wet. Scrunch and finger style your hair, pinning where needed, and allow it to air dry or use a diffuser or bonnet dryer to dry. Unpin, spray with hairspray to set and you’re finished.
Triple Twisted Bun
If one bun is good, three buns are better, right? This is the perfect holiday style because it looks intricate and detailed, but it’s not time-consuming to create. You’ll first divide your hair into three horizontal sections and create three stacked ponytails. Twist the top ponytail clockwise into a bun and pin it into place. Twist the second ponytail counterclockwise to alter the direction of the bun and add interest. Then twist the bottom ponytail clockwise again and pin it into place. This look is perfect with both sleek ballerina buns and loose messy buns alike.
Face-framing Money Piece Updo
This technique can glam up any updo you like from a French twist to a chignon and looks incredible if you have money piece highlights in the front. You’ll style your hair into the chosen updo leaving two strands loose on either side of your face. Use a flat iron to create a nice undulating wave that will make a glamorous frame for your face. Add a couple of decorative bobby pins at the temples to bring a bit of bling into your style.
Side Braids
This is a great way to add a trendy flare to natural curls or any style for that matter. You’ll start by sectioning off the side to be braided and coating it with gel to give a smooth sleek look. Now create a series of tiny French braids or cornrows down the side of the head. Smooth and define your curls and style them so that the braids are just peeking out with a few soft curls cascading over them.
Halo Braid
Not a fan of updos but still want your hair out of the way? This boho chic look is perfect for you. You only need basic braiding and pinning skills to create this style. Part your hair down the center from front to back. Now braid long pigtails on each side. Tug the sections of the braid to create more volume. Wrap each braid up and over your head and pin it into place, tucking in the tails to hide them. Tuck in a few small evergreens or holly sprigs for an even more festive look.
