The Hygge Concept For Hair

You’ve probably already come across the word hygge this winter – that Danish word that’s difficult to pronounce correctly. It’s meant to sound something like “hoo-geh,” and it’s all about being cozy and embracing life’s simple pleasures. We’re seeing it everywhere from interior design to cooking, and now we’re even talking about it for this year’s trending hair colors. This will be the year for hair colors that embrace all that is warm and comfortable.
On the darker end of the spectrum, aubrown will be big. Yes, this is another new word to learn. It’s a complex mixture of auburn and brown, and it’s rich and glossy and luxurious. A deep brunette base color gets highlighted with auburn tones that bring a low maintenance glow while adding depth and movement.
Going lighter, toffee will take up where bronde leaves off. Here you’ll see caramel tones floating in a base that’s almost auburn but still on the brown side. You can keep them subtle, or let them go lighter to a more golden glow at the very ends. Again, it all grows out easily requiring touch ups only if you want them. To go even lighter, the blonde color of the year will be buttery and golden. You can warm it up with a range of tones that will give you some sunshine sparkle as well as great movement and depth.
The red tones will be called organic this year. Think about the colors you see in Nature that are vibrant but believable, such as bronzed copper and terracotta. Again, it’s an auburn base with warm highlights that perfectly frame your face while letting your hair’s natural texture shine through.
