Need To Know – Extensions

Sometimes it’s just too hard to wait, and sometimes no matter how long you wait, it still won’t happen. If the hairstyle you’re dreaming of falls into either of those categories, we may just have the answer for you. Hair extensions are a fantastic way to get the style, highlights, volume and texture that you want without the waiting or exposing your hair to chemical processing.
After you decide that extensions are the way to go, you still have a few more decisions to make. Your stylist will help you choose the color and texture that best fits your hair’s needs as well as the style you want, but ultimately you’ll be the one calling the shots on how your fancy new hair will attach to your natural hair. Here is a brief intro to help you decide.
Sewn in extensions are easy to maintain and actually quite cost-effective. Your stylist will first braid your hair tightly to create a foundation to which your new extensions will be attached. If your hair is healthy and strong, these may be the best choice for you. Over the course of the next three to four months that you’ll wear your extensions, you may need to have them tightened up but it’s a pretty simple process.
Another popular choice for hair extensions use fusion bonds to attach to your natural hair. Fusion bonds work through a process of individual keratin bonds, and this is a great option if you want a good deal of instant length and volume. They require very little maintenance too, and you can treat them as if they were your own hair. These will require some time to initially apply them, but they’ll last for up to four months without much in the way of special treatment.
