Kids With Style

As if it’s not enough to think about your own hair and how to style it, some of us also have to think about what to do with our kids’ hair. Experienced parents will nod with complete understanding when we talk about the realization that our children have reached the age when they suddenly want to do something different with their hair. Not to worry – here are some ideas that may save you some time, and sanity, on school mornings.
Girls who want to have fun with their style may want to consider a long bob. It’s the most versatile cut you can find letting you wear it long and natural, or styled up for fun. Add a braid on one side to hold it back from the face, or pull the front up on top of the head for some little girl big hair. Keep it straight or curl it up; leave it long or pull it up. You’re limited only by your imagination.
For girls with better things to do, you can’t go wrong with a surfer cut. This works especially well for those with some natural wave, but don’t be put off if you’re working with pin-straight hair too. It’s really a bob in disguise with long fringe and some soft layering on the ends for texture. It’s literally wash and go, unless you want to style it up from time to time with a bit of soft styling cream or serum and some blingy barrettes or hairpins. It’s also easy to grow out if need be.
Dapper young men may want to consider an updated pompadour. It has the classic clean taper on the neckline but it’s combined seamlessly with a faded clipper over comb kept in shape with pomade. It’s a great rockabilly look, but it’s not for everyone. It does require some time and attention before heading out for the school bus.
For something a bit more low maintenance, you and your boy may want to consider a classic crop with some cropped fringe. It’s tight on the sides and back, but you can get playful with the texture on top, and if you combine it with oblique bangs that you can either piece or keep blunt, you’ll get an edgy, modern look with minimal fuss.
