Getting Ready For The Heat
Forewarned is forearmed as they say, and even though we’re only into April at the moment, you must know that before you can say, “Pass the lemonade” we’ll be well and truly into the heat of summer. Nothing moves faster than a page from your calendar. So it’s a good idea to think about what you’ll do with your hair to get through the hot season in style.
One logical way to beat the heat is to go short. And the good news is that short crops don’t have to be styling dead ends. With a little imagination they’re actually quite versatile. You can slick it back to dress it up, or use some texturizing cream to tousle it up. You can even go edgy by using a product that gives you a super strong hold. A short cut also gives you license to accessorize with jewelry, makeup and even hair bling to fit your fashion mood.
For a slightly longer take, consider a textured bowl cut. It’s great for those with some natural wave built in. It’s short on the neckline, making it a cool choice for summer, and the added texture gives you a lot of movement and styling options, with or without heat styling techniques. If your hair is naturally straight, consider a blunt bob instead. You can add texture by opting for a deep side part and piecing it out with some salt spray. It’s also a great cut for the wet look that’s everywhere this year. Just load it up with serum and comb it back.
For long hair, the key to comfortable summer style is to get it off the back of your neck. For an update on the high pony, texturize it to give a lived-in look. Or, opt for a high, messy fishtail braid. Hot summer days will make any hairstyle messy by lunchtime. So why not begin with it that way right from the start? If you find that you’re over the braid at any point, you can just wrap it up into a top knot instead. Easy done.
